Out on the savanna, the hyena has a reputation. He waits at the edge of things, laughs at the wrong moment, and turns up wherever somebody else did the work. The Hyena Collection gives that scavenger a wardrobe and a nickname, and the result is one very pleased little character named Criminal at Large. He is small, spotted, and absolutely certain the camera loves him.
A suit in a very particular orange
Look at the outfit first, because he chose it with care. Our hyena stands in a fitted two-piece suit in bright, unmistakable orange, the exact shade you might recognize from a certain kind of institutional laundry, paired with a crisp white shirt and a skinny red tie. Whether he knows what that color suggests is the question the whole design asks. He wears it like a tuxedo at a gala, one paw tucked casually at his side, spotted tail curled behind him like punctuation.
The shades and the swagger
Then there is the face. A spiky crest of orange hair shoots up off the top of his head, and a pair of purple-tinted glasses sits low on his snout, the kind a fellow wears when he would rather you did not read his eyes. His round ears stick straight out, his muzzle is set in a sly half smile, and he looks like he just slipped out a side door and has decided that counts as an exit strategy. The words curve around him in bold orange lettering, Criminal across the top and At Large tucked down by his feet, like a wanted poster he had printed for himself as a keepsake.
For the one who notices the details
This design is for the person who catches the joke inside the joke. She sees the orange suit and grins before she even reads the words. She is the sharpest one at trivia night, the friend who quietly points out what everyone else missed, the one whose laugh arrives a half second before the room figures it out. The person behind her in the coffee line will need a moment to connect the suit, the shades and the caption. She does not mind waiting. On the savanna, the hyena always gets the last laugh. In this collection, it is finally somebody else's turn.
